I complain to God. I used to just complain to myself but one day I realized that the psalmist complained to Him frequently so I figured that God could handle my honesty also.
Over the weekend I listened to a sermon that addresses lamenting, or complaining to God. The preacher stated that complaining to God is a form of worship while complaining about God is a form of rebellion (sin).
I never thought that my complaints to God were worship; I assumed I was just being whiny. What I learned is that it is okay to lament.
I am finding in my season of lamenting that God is leading me in green meadows, beside peaceful streams, and that He is renewing my strength (Psalm 23:2-3). I’m not sure He could do this if I was not entirely honest with Him.
If you find yourself having a day or even a season where you need to lament to God, do it! He is big enough to handle our honesty, whether it be praise laden or lamenting. He wants to hear it all.
